8 reasons to use honey for your pets

It’s no secret that Bee Pollen and Propolis have long been one of nature’s powerful superfoods. But did you know they are equally powerful and beneficial for your pets?

Bee Pollen is gathered from blossoms. It is a combination of proteins, enzymes, amino acids, vitamins and nutrients. Bee Propolis, also known as the “Bee Glue,” is an antiseptic gathered from the buds, bark and leaves of trees. Honey is the product of all the nectar gathered from the flowers, bee’s use it as a food source and so can people and pets.

Both Bee Pollen and Propolis have all of the great nutrients your pet needs to be healthy. They contain flavonoids, antioxidants, B vitamins, proteins, minerals and more. Studies also suggest honey and its polyphenols are helpful in fighting many forms of cancer.

Here are eight reasons your pet should be using these superfoods:

Wound Healer
Bee Propolis seals a wound just like it can seal the hive. It has anti-bacterial and anti-fungal. Glucose Oxidase is an enzyme in Propolis that acts as Hydrogen Peroxide. It gives Propolis all the power of healing without the burn of what we use to clean our own wounds.

Infection Fighter
Propolis can help protect animals from all sorts of illnesses. When in a tincture or used topically, it will help your pet stay well. Renowned as a great sore throat remedy and cough suppressant in people. Honey has the same effect for dogs. It is a great remedy for Kennel Cough and keeping teeth and gums healthy and clean.

Energy Booster
Honey is a healthy way to get a sugar boost. The addition of honey to a pet's day can help increase healthy levels of energy and can even energize older animals. For those concerned about the sugar content of honey, rest assured knowing that it is an easily digested and gradually broken down form of natural sugar unlike processed sugar.

Healthy for the Head: Memory and Hair
Studies show honey supports brain health and memory. Polyphenol properties of honey fight cell damage, provide antioxidants and improve memory. (Journal: Evidence Based CAM, 2014) It also fights dandruff and irritation on the skin as well as moisturizes and soothes when applied topically.

Stomach Health
Honey helps digestion. It is a probiotic and contains helpful digestive enzymes, and soothes the lining of the GI tract. It is great at controlling bacterial overgrowth with its anti-bacterial properties.

Relieves Pain
Bee products contains at least 18 active substances, some of which are the most potent anti-inflammatories known to exist (100 times more potent than cortisone).  Other substances in honey inhibit cyclooxygenase, the same thing that many popular pain killers do.

Allergy Fighter
Bee Pollen challenges the immune system. It is nature's version of a vaccine. Your pet's body builds antibodies and is more resistant to environmental allergens.
